They are similar. Burns just has the physical edge and size and aggression that Green doesn't seem to use. To me Burns is way better than Green....... Green is half the player he used to be. Lets not forget the only defenseman to outscore Burns this year was Karlsson. Now with Martin as his parnter Burns has a real good chance at the Norris this season he finished 4th this past year. Green will outscore Burns this season. And have a better plus-minus.

Agree here, Green is very one dimensional, and his one dimension isn't really that amazing. People underrate Green's defensive ability. He's slightly above average in that respect. His offense was kind of buried as a third pairing this last year. I think with the lethal Wings' powerplay, we'll see a surge in Green's offense.

He managed 45 points last year while playing on the leagues number one PP last year (25.3%). ( I do realize Detroits was number two). 17 of Greens 45 points came on the PP, leaving 28 points. Burns had 60 points (24 PP) playing on the leagues 6th best PP. I would still take Burns. And +/- could be the worst stat the league keeps track of.

Spoken like a true Oilers fan. You mean spoken like Tanner right? "Karlsson is the best defenseman of the last 30 years outside of Lidstrom."

You mean spoken like Tanner right? Fair enough. It's what I was going for. Making fun of Tanner's inability to see that no player is so good offensively that he doesn't have to play defence.

So.... you're saying Tanner is wrong when he says Hanzal is a top 20 center in the league? Certainly he must be right about Karlsson being the best defenseman in the league and 2nd best only to Lidstrom since 1985.
