He likely wants to retire in Edmonton and his leadership doesn't hurt the team. I could see Fayne being moved out if he can't play with Sekera this year. Well before Fayne would even be considered to be moved, I think you guys would need a righty to replace him as you guys are pretty thin in that regard unless you're high on Gryba. I just think that Fayne is MacT's guy and Chiarelli is likely going to be more loyal to the guys that he brought in. Fayne makes a lot of money for what he does and if Reinhart can do the same thing for 1/3 of the money then I think we know what would happen.

All very true, I'm not disagreeing with you but that would just leave Shultz and Gryba as your only right handed blueliners.

My personal philosophy is that there are not enough right shooting defencemen in the league to worry about it. Detroit got by just fine with 6 lefties last season, it's inconvenient but the truly talented players won't be hampered by it. If a players only positive skill is shooting right I think that is a weak argument for keeping them.

But some players are dreadful on their off side though not everybody can do it.

I still think Sekera will end up in the top pair on the right side with Shultz on pair 2. Gryba or NN on 3. Will be interesting to see what works but I'm not sold on Sekera-Fayne as a top pair.

The only way they work as a "top pair" is if Klefbom and Schultz feast on the weaker competition and destroy teams offensively.

I believe that players that are 20 years or older start to burn through their contract regardless, could be wrong but that is what I think the rule is. Also as soon as he becomes a regular pro player he will be fulfilling his rookie contract. Yeah you're right, I didn't realize he was already 20.... but he's still got the 3 years of ELC with the contract slide. Either way doesn't hurt to have him start in the A until he has a full time spot on the team. You guys need to ship some mofo's out via trade or via bury their ass in the A. I just don't want to lose Davidson in the waivers. He's really stood out well to me.

Would replace them all (again) if my laptop wasn't 4-5 years old. But there goes 7-800 bucks. Ugh.
