Shit. Down here, you're lucky to make $8 an hour for fast food places. I can't believe some places offer more than double that. How is the cost of living up there? In the city is more expensive than a few miles outside the city. That being said, its well below the national average. Food is about the same as everywhere else, but houses are pretty cheap. I rent a one bedroom bachelors pad, 850 sq. ft, one bathroom, decent kitchen, big living room, 15 x 15 ft bedroom and a large outdoor deck (4ft x 12 ft I believe). I get it all for 675/month. |

Wow! So you are an actual cool mech.eng.! The only ones I know are mechanial building systems and the majority of them are idiotic people. I've met some really nice and smart ones, but most are morons. Your job sounds really cool, especially with the 3-D printer you have.  I like my job most days. Its when I have to cover for the business side of things when I get a little frustrated. Mounds of paperwork that take away from my design and fabrication time. LOL, yeah, running the business aspect must suck. I like to be left alone when I'm working so that I can get stuff done. I hate meetings, but I'm now at a point in which I fully understand them and know when they are beneficial. Or maybe it's just because I'm now running the meetings so that I can find out exactly what everyone else has been up to lol |

I like my job most days. Its when I have to cover for the business side of things when I get a little frustrated. Mounds of paperwork that take away from my design and fabrication time. LOL, yeah, running the business aspect must suck. I like to be left alone when I'm working so that I can get stuff done. I hate meetings, but I'm now at a point in which I fully understand them and know when they are beneficial. Or maybe it's just because I'm now running the meetings so that I can find out exactly what everyone else has been up to lol I like to work on my own too, but I seldom get time to do it. Most of my day is spent dealing with other people I work with, talking with customers and sometimes vendors for ordering material. A cool project I did back in March was we made a replica of the huge 4 inch thick door from "the wall" in game of thrones. I literally had to special order 4 inch thick AR 400 steel and contracted it out to someone to have it engraved and the profile cut using a water jet cutting machine. The shipping charges moving that thing around were over $2,500 |
