Just my opinion, but I think the Oilers would be better suited going after a true #1 or someone who can step into that role that currently isnt getting that chance. In all due respect to nurse, I dont think he will be one. Perhaps a OEL #2 or a phenomenal second pairing guy. I just dont see the Hamonic trade really making enough of a difference to put the Oilers into the post season. You were right about the teams health. I think if they are healthy they may be in the hunt. I think this is a cup worthy roster if you trade for a #1 D man, and get yourself a 3rd line center along with some key role players. Perhaps the oilers have the necessary role players in their locker room, I have no idea. Imagine this scenario though. They land Alex Pietrangelo with their first rounder in this coming draft plus Jultz and a prospect (details could be discussed but getting rid of Pietrangelo will certainly require a D man going the other way). Then in a separate trade the oilers send a package of B rated players and/or prospects plus a mid round pick to the Isles for Frans Nielson (a playmaker for Yak). Move Letestu down to the fourth line and juggle your lines accordingly. I think the goaltending is good. Talbot seems like he can handle the work load, but he needs help in front of him. I really like both of your trade proposals. Maybe they go for both AP and Hamonic and forego the 3C. I think the season after next is when Nurse will be our 1D. Klefbom and Sekera will hold down that spot until the time is right. I hope we hold onto Davidson. So many defensemen. Chiarelli needs to earn his paycheck. Time to get to work! |

Pasta for Lander and Gazdic! I like the trade with Arizona, however, they would have to be complete retanners to accept that trade in giving up a young OEL Dman and their veteran C. Well, not yet on Hanzal, maybe after next season. I don't know if Hamonic completes the D core, but he would help solidify it. We could roll Klefbom-Sekera, Nurse-Hamonic and Davidson-Reinhart as the pairings. Sekera, Davidson and Reinhart can all play the right side. Perhaps Clendening makes a solid contribution and the Oilers retain him. You guys need Ericsson for that top pairing. Ericsson @ 1/2 salary for kevan miller |

I'd almost rather wait until the offseason and either sign a player in free agency or find a cap strapped team and bend them over a barrel and show them the 50 states.

Oh, I have another item I love about McDavid. I love how much Eichel hates hearing about him and hates being asked about McDavid. He had such a diva pissed off look when the media asked him his opinion on McDavid's sick goal against Columbus. Oh it's just delicious to see him hate it.
