I think that you guys need to even trade a core player like hall or rnh for a top dman. But you better draft bear.. meme of pedobear everywhere Because we have a 1LW and a replacement for RNH? RNH is our Bergeron, why would they move him? Because that's the bottom line and stone cold said so. |

Nah, I think a team should only be able to pick first overall once every five years. So once you get it, you are excluded from the first overall lottery drawing the next five years but can still win 2nd or 3rd overall. If the oilers were half as good at late round drafting as the wings, they would be perennial playoff contenders. I don't see how taking away a teams best option of adding talent is going to make them better, just like taking draft picks away from teams that hire NHL calibre personnel. If the NHL was truly sick of teams missing the playoffs every year they should have a 5 year rule where if you don't make the playoffs in 5 seasons they step in do a complete audit and clean house and hire their own staff. I like the idea of the audit. If they really want the whole league to be a very competitive, almost "level" playing field, having the league take responsibilities of owners and management abilities would be a OEL step. As for the first point, I'm not advocating removing the pick, but say you can't draft first consecutively, but it's a fucked up draft lottery system no matter what is done with it. |

I don't see how taking away a teams best option of adding talent is going to make them better, just like taking draft picks away from teams that hire NHL calibre personnel. If the NHL was truly sick of teams missing the playoffs every year they should have a 5 year rule where if you don't make the playoffs in 5 seasons they step in do a complete audit and clean house and hire their own staff. Confidence is not there. You need management to step in and create a winning atmosphere. Adding a top yong guy doesn't fix anything. At some point you need to recreate the foundation.
