Spector said Vatanen is a good trade target. I got in an argument with an idiot on Reddit about why we shouldn't trade the core. So, in my proposal:
ANA 2016 1st, Sami Vatenan, Jakub Silferberg and maybe either Nic Kerdiles or Brandon Montour for EDM 2016 1st, Nail Yakupov, Teddy Purcell.
We retain a 1st round in the draft, Silferberg has the size PC likes, Vatenan is a RHD that can move the puck. We get a good return for Purcell, gives a new scene and good potential for offense with Anaheim for Yakupov, and our first gets us a much needed upgrade with a RHD and a solid prospect that should be able to make an impact for next season if things go right.
Thoughts?

I think Anaheim wouldn't do it. Not enough of a now return for a playoff team.

I think Anaheim wouldn't do it. Not enough of a now return for a playoff team. I think if you shifted the picks around, and were sending a defenseman of note back the other way (the irony in trading Jultz back there would be funny), something like this could work. Chiarelli can really use that pick to his advantage. If I were him and my intention was to bring in a top D man and shed a bad contract, that pick allows me to do both in my opinion. Give them Nikitin and perhaps take a little less back in the minor players, that is a huge win for the Oilers. Something like this maybe: ANA 2016 1st, Sami Vatenan, Jakub Silferberg, Nate Thompson for EDM 2016 1st, Nail Yakupov, Teddy Purcell and Nikita Nikitin. Maybe?

I think the 1st overall pick would net a better player than Vatenan withouth including Yak and Teddy but that's just me.

Maybe Musil instead? I like your expansion on my idea.

I think the 1st overall pick would net a better player than Vatenan withouth including Yak and Teddy but that's just me. Well Teddy is pretty much gone, which people should expect. Yakupov is probably gone during the offseason, I'll be surprised if he starts with the club next season. While I agree that our first should get a better return, I still don't see us drafting inside the top 5 which is why I figured there'd be a swap of first round picks and we get a RHD that can put up points, and even though it's not the OELest return, I think it's a PC style move and it's at least somewhat realistic. My hope is that they get their shit together and get outside of the top 10; but that's a lot of shit to get together.
