So since its playoff hockey time for some and offseason time for most, why not discuss random trades or signings or picks that you want your team to grab. Example, I said last year that the Oilers should draft Ethan Bear just based on his name alone.
Here's a random thought I just had. Since everyone and their retannered cat knows how to fix the Oilers via trading, here's a fun thought. Ottawa seems like something big or stupid will happen this offseason for them, people expect a massive change with Edmonton, so, who would do a trade of Taylor Hall for Erik Karlson?
Personally, I believe that PeteyC can address the Oilers roster without moving a core player. There's a couple of "fringe" (not the best word but fuck it) players aka Yakupov that can be tied up with other mid-range players and out 1st rounder than should be able to get us something. Hall, Eberle, RNH are all valuable and important and trading one of those would create a hole and you don't create a hole to fill another hole.
Thoughts?

I think that you guys need to even trade a core player like hall or rnh for a top dman. But you better draft bear.. meme of pedobear everywhere

I'm sick of hearing how the Oilers HAVE to trade one of their players. How about fuck you. How many times has a defenceman been moved who is good enough to fix the Oilers? Twice and both times it was Pronger and both times the team that traded him severely lost the trade.

RNH is our Bergeron, why would they move him?

You could combine both trades for Pronger and you would still lose that trade, who the fuck is lining up to make that move? "Oh but Nashville traded Seth Jones..." Yeah of course they traded a fucking guy playing on their third pairing for a legit number one centre. I bet Florida would love to trade Gudbranson for a number 1 centre but...

But the Oilers are garbage and are all offense that can't win games so they have to trade their best players who aren't very good in order to fix the dfense because adding a 1 RHD will magically correct all problems.

I've never heard of anybody with logic complain about having too much talent. The Oilers can't have this many 1st overall picks on one team? Well then Detroit can't have so many late round gems then, how about that?

Because he isnt important enough to be listed as valuable.

So once you get it, you are excluded from the first overall lottery drawing the next five years but can still win 2nd or 3rd overall. If the oilers were half as good at late round drafting as the wings, they would be perennial playoff contenders.

It makes sense and spreads the wealth around.

Anyone else think the Oilers have a stigma against them for the rest of their existence now? They will only win and make the playoffs because they drafted first overall X amount of times.

I don't see how taking away a teams best option of adding talent is going to make them better, just like taking draft picks away from teams that hire NHL calibre personnel. If the NHL was truly sick of teams missing the playoffs every year they should have a 5 year rule where if you don't make the playoffs in 5 seasons they step in do a complete audit and clean house and hire their own staff.

They will hate the Oilers for the simple fact that they won McDavid. People hate the Oilers because they suck as stupid as that reason is, they hate Chicago because they win, they hate Florida because it's boring. People hate and will always hate so fuck em.
