did we trade him to Columbus . Avs new affiliate is San Antonio now Why do pro teams switch AHL affiliates so often. Didnt San Antonio used to be Arizona's AHL affiliate? I believe they the Panthers? . But San Antonio is owned by the spurs and Lake Erie owned by the Cavs. When teams kept on reshuffling to make the new Pacific division, a few teams were left in the cold. They signed a 5 year deal with the Rampage, so they will be calling that home for a while now.
Rumoured they were trying to get a team in Denver, but one hasn't come up for sale yet. Would love to see the Cutthroats come back as the Avs AHL team

Not sure but most teams are moving towards having their AHL affiliate much closer to home. Makes it easy for late call ups to make a game. Pretty hard to do that when you're in Tampa and your affiliate is in Syracuse.

Contracts with affiliates run out and stuff. But the big reason why especially this offseason there's been so much change is the new pacific division inthe AHL

Yeah there were a lot of talks about a realignment of the AHL and ECHL after they did away with the CHL. The only issue is the AHL owners wouldn't want to become an ECHL owner. It would make more sense though for a lot of teams. Tampa could have Orlando as their AHL affiliate and the Panthers could have the Everblades.

Yep, Error has an offer on the table from the Blue Jackets but he wants more money it's believed the offer's below 3mil. He said he has no problem with a 1 year deal so you have to figure someone will pony up give him 4-5 for a year. He'd be a good fit with the Avalanche, Islanders and the Kings. A 1 year deal for ehrhoff would be a solid Add for my Avs, but unless they are willing to toss Holden, Stuart, and Guenin into the press boxes and 1 of them in the minors. Not sure they would be willing to do that. But I could totally see them inviting Glencross to camp Tanguay Duchene Iginla Landeskog Soderberg MacKinnon Glencross Grigorenko Comeau McLeod Mitchell Everberg Winchester Beauchemin Johnson Zadorov Barrie Ehrhoff Stuart Holden Redmond That would be a legit depth going into the season and could make some noise

I guess it shows you how much I follow the AHL lol.

I really think one of Tangs or Iginla should mentor Grigo though. Putting grigo with a pair of two way forwards might not be the best fit.

I think they have the horses to make a push too, but thats the Key, the guys under 25 (Dutch, Landy, MacK, Barrie, Zads, Grigo) have to play to their potential. If Mack shows hes ready for C duties, it makes that line up really interesting. Lots of beefy forwards lining up on the wings this year

Its nice having two guys on a line that can play center. In key situations, if one gets booted from the faceoff, then the other comes in and is just as good. I remember when Julien had Soderberg and Bergy on the same unit. Essentially for every offensive zone faceoff (for a little bit anyways) I noticed Soderberg would just be an asshole in the dot to the other player in an attempt to get them both kicked out of the faceoff dot, then bergy would swoop in and have and easy faceoff against a less experienced person on the draw. Neat strategy if it works.

Neat strategy if it works. Roy does that too, especially w/ Mack and ROR on a line. Its key to have some multi positional players. MacK, Soderberg, Mitchell, Grigo, can all play C or W and guys like Tanguay and Comeau can play wither wing. Its nice having all those options in your forward ranks.

They need to rebuild Berra up first, at least half the season of him as a back up is my guess. If they can find a buyer for him then they will see Picks this season, if not. I see the Avs riding with Varly Berra for the full season, then buying out his last year and resigning Picks to a 2 year NHL contract. They cant lose assets in this situation buy having Picks playing too many games and then being waiver wire eligible if Berra is still kicking around .

He is aweful. Ill give him credit for showing a little life towards the end of last season, but he needed to be bought out. What happens when berra starts playing like shit again? You can bury some of his salary in the minors, buy him out at the end of the season? THE NHL NEEDS MORE PICKS! #freepicks
